It’s been two years. Two years!! When I first started this comic, I thought I would make it educational towards non-epileptics… but it ended up being more like monthly therapy for me (lol). But it’s really only because of this comic that I’ve been able to get to a healthy place with epilepsy and learn to work through it. Without Mis(h)adra, I don’t know where I’d be now! So it’s been a long, positive, and extremely rewarding road for me.
When I posted the first chapter in November 2013, I thought “no one will probably read this comic.” Well – a lot of people read it!! More than I ever thought would!! And over the past two years, I’ve gotten so many messages from people who know epileptics who told me that this helped them understand better, or from fellow epileptics who said that this comic resonated with them. I cried every time! That honestly means the world to me and it’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve treasured each and every message.
Thank you all very much for reading, from the bottom of my heart. An extra “thank you” to all my friends, to my sister Sommer, and to my dad.
I also want to give an extra shout-out to an anon who sent me an ask a while ago saying that they are a high schooler struggling with epilepsy and said that they are barely hanging on. I hope that you are staying strong and are okay, whoever and wherever you are.
